The Secret History of Brooches – 1 hour online talk  £7.50
Insiders guide to the secret history of brooches how from humble beginnings as a simple fastener, they’ve become the most desirable,  decorative and priceless.

But there’s more to brooches. Over the years they’ve been treasured mementoes of a loved one and conveyed secret messages of religious or political allegiance. We’ll look at brooches from the simple to the spectacular, brooches whose famous owners have changed history. Right up to a rather famous brooch that made a particularly pertinent comment about our own Prime Minister.

Join Melanie Blaikie – with her background in fine jewellery, and having designed for most of the big names, from Mappin & Webb and Garrard to Asprey and Tiffany – for an hour of history, intrigue and fabulous jewels.

If you’d like to join in – wearing your own favourite brooch is optional but highly recommended.
